FIVE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF Rs. 1.50 CRORE TO THEN ASSISTANT MANAGER OF CENTRAL BANK OF INDIA IN A DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE

            The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal has convicted Shri Vasant Pavase, then Assistant Manager, Central Bank of India, Arera Hills Branch, Bhopal U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e) of PC, Act and sentenced him to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1.50 Crore in a disproportionate assets case.

 

            CBI had registered a Case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988 on 29.10.2010 against Shri Vasant Pavase, the then Assistant Manager, Central Bank of India, Arera Hills Branch, Bhopal on the allegation that he amassed assets to the tune of Rs.1,70,26,182/-(approx) which was disproportionate to his known source of income.

 

            After thorough investigation, a charge sheet was filed against Shri Vasant Pavase, the then Asstt. Manager, Central Bank of India on 31-10-2011 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI cases, Bhopal U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.

 

            The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
