           The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested the Director (IAAS-2005 Batch Officer) working in the office of Director General of Audit, Central Expenditure, New Delhi in an on-going investigation of bribery case.


           The accused is being produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM), Delhi.


           The relative (a Medical Officer, PHC, Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu) of said accused was arrested yesterday at Chennai while accepting a bribe of Rs.5 lakhs on his behalf from Complainant. He was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI cases, Chennai and was remanded to Judicial Custody till 2.05.2014.


           A case was registered by CBI U/s 7 and 12 of PC Act based on a complaint. It was alleged that a Director (IAAS - 2005 Batch Officer), AMG-II working in the Office of Director General of Audit, Central Expenditure, AGCR Building, New Delhi demanded an amount of Rs. 35 lakhs as bribe for regularising the irregularities of a Nursing College being run by the complainant at Chennai and directed the complainant to pay the first instalment of Rs.5 lakhs on 21.04.2014 to his brother-in-law at a designated place in Chennai.


            CBI laid a trap and the brother-in-law of accused was caught red handed while accepting the amount of Rs.5 lakhs. After thorough investigation, the Director (IAAS), AMG-II was also arrested during the early hours of 22.04.2014.


           So far searches have been conducted at 7 places at Melamaniachi, Tirunelveli, Kancheepuram, Chennai, New Delhi and Noida.  Cash of Rs.1,01,61,000/-(approx) has been recovered. 12 immovable property documents from the residence of Director (IAAS) & 9 immovable property documents from the residence of his relative (other accused) and certain incriminating documents have been recovered.


           Further investigation is continuing.
