            The Central Bureau of Investigation has traced a person, posing as Inspector of CBI on a complaint, alleging that he had taken Rs.Five Lakhs from a few persons for arranging government job.


            It was alleged that he had also shown them a purportedly CBI I-card in the name of “insp.ranveersharma”. Verification revealed that the said I–card was forged and the person who was posing as Inspector Ranveer Sharma of CBI had duped various persons and fraudulently received money from them. The said persons was traced and the forged I-Card, alongwith some other documents like copies of educational certificates, EPIC, Aadhar Cards, purported joining letter for the post of LDC in MCD, Kamla Market in the name of another person, Acknowledgement/ Admit Card, some handwritten documents & some passport size photographs of various persons were found in his possession. The matter was referred to Police Station Lodhi Colony who have registered an FIR on 30.10.2014 u/s 419, 420, 468, 471 IPC in this regard against the said conman. The accused has been arrested by Delhi Police.


            This is another instance of some conmen/fraudsters posing as CBI officers / acquaintances of CBI officers and trying to extort money / or favours from the general public / public servants which have come to the notice of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). It is found that such imposters generally approach unsuspecting members of the public / public servants and offer to 'provide government jobs/ settle complaints/cases' in exchange for money or favours.


            CBI alerts general public that any demand of money / favours to provide government jobs, settle complaints, made by person/s claiming to be from CBI or claiming to have acquaintances with CBI officers, should not be entertained. Such persons should be viewed with suspicion and must be asked to show their Identity proof.
