            The Additional Sessions Judge, Tiruvallur (Tamilnadu) has convicted Shri R.Murugan, then Head Constable of Tamil Nadu Police in a murder case U/s 302 of IPC and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment with fine of Rs. 20,000/-.


            CBI had registered a case on the orders dated 23.04.2010 of Madras High Court. It was alleged that on 09.07.2009, accused Dhanasekharan and Semon along with few other accused were being escorted from Central Prison, Puzhal to JM Court, Thiruthani for extension of remand. Shri Dhanasekharan and Shri Semon were involved in the murder of Smt. Muniammal, mother of Shri R. Murugan, then Head Constable of Tamil Nadu Police on 05.09.2008. Shri R. Murugan was waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on the killers of his mother. He suddenly opened fire from his service rifle at Shri Dhanasekharan & Shri Semon when the police vehicle carrying them was on the move, killing Shri Dhanasekharan instantly and injuring Shri Semon.


            After completion of investigation, CBI filed a charge sheet against Shri R. Murugan U/s 302, 307 of IPC and Sec 27 of Arms Act in March 2011. The court found Shri R. Murugan, guilty of all the charges and convicted him.
