          Kindly refer Press Release dated 21.09.2016 under Head “PRIVATE PERSON SENTENCED IN A CASE FOR IMPERSONATING AS CBI INSPECTOR”

          It is clarified that Ld. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate(East), Karkardooma Court, Delhi Shri Naresh Kumar Laka sentenced accused Inderjit Yadav, resident of village – Akhtana, District, Gorakhpur (Now District Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh) to undergo seven years Simple Imprisonment U/s 420 of IPC, three years SI U/s 419 of IPC, three years SI U/s 471 of IPC & three years SI U/s 473 of IPC along with fine of Rs.5000/- in each section. The Court directed that all the sentences shall run concurrently except the sentence in Section 473 of IPC which is a distinct and serious offence for counterfeiting the seal in the name of CBI. The Court further directed that the accused will pay double the amount of each victim (total seven) as compensation which is aggregated to Rs.7,04,000/-.

         It may be recalled that a Press Release in respect of the above conviction of accused Inderjit Yadav was issued by CBI on 21.09.2016. However, inadvertently, the name of Ld. Shri Naresh Kumar Laka, CMM(East), Karkardooma Court, Delhi got typed in place of accused Inderjit Yadav in the first paragraph of Press Release issued on 21.09.2016. The error is unintentional and deeply regretted.

        CBI had registered a case on 05.04.2005 against accused Inderjit Yadav resident of Village- Akhtana, District, Gorakhpur (Now District Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh) on the allegations that accused had been impersonating himself as Inspector of CBI and cheating many persons on the pretext of securing jobs in Government Departments. He was arrested on the same day.

          After investigation, chargesheet was filed in the Court at Karkardooma, Delhi U/s 419, 420, 468, 471, 473 of IPC. Charges were framed on 23.02.2007. During trial, prosecution examined 17 witnesses.
