CBI REGISTERS EIGHT CASES AGAINST CERTAIN PRIVATE PERSONS AND PRIVATE COMPANIES ON THE ALLEGATIONS OF CHEATING THE PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK; CONDUCTS SEARCHES AT 16 LOCATIONS

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered 8 cases against certain private persons including residents of Delhi and several private companies based at Delhi on the allegations of cheating the Punjab National Bank to the tune of more than Rs.60 crore (approx.) by way of obtaining credit facilities on the basis of forged documents and mortgaging fake properties. It was also alleged that the funds obtained through credit facilities were diverted by the accused; family members and others for the purposes other than for which the loan was sanctioned.

            Searches are being conducted today at 16 places in Delhi & Ambala.

            Further investigation is in progress.
